ANNUAL CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR OFFICERS to preside on the 2017-2018
Non-Senate Faculty (NSF) Professional Development Fund (PDF) council.

This is the NSF PDF council's annual call for nominations to membership on the council. Please consider helping other lecturers by serving on the council! The volunteer hours required consist of two or three meetings while helping manage UC’s only granting prgram for lecturers.

The NSF provides financial support to Unit 18 lecturers for professional development activities that contribute to teaching and pedagogy at UCSC. The funds are typically used for professional meetings, conferences, workshops, special materials purchases, and more. Each year over $30,000 of NSF PDF funds are granted for these and other activities.

The granting is overseen by the NSF PDF council. The council approves grant applications, and ensures university policies of transparancy, fairness and appropriate oversight in the granting process. The council’s activities usually consist of two meetings per year, and some training for new members.

Please consider joining the council, or nominating a lecturer you feel would be an asset to the council. Any Unit 18 Lecturer is eligible to apply for this service position.

NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN until Halloween 2017. Please consider helping with this important service to our lecturers.

Last year’s officers were Annapurna Pandey (adpandey@ucsc.edu), Candace Calsoyas calsoyas@ucsc.edu, Nandini Bhattacharya (nandini@ucsc.edu), Randa Roland (randaro@ucsc.edu), Tiffany Wong (tilwong@ucsc.edu), and Tony Hoffman (thoffma@ucsc.edu).

Please feel free to ask any of us about the council. Send your nomination (of yourself or another) to thoffma@ucsc.edu . We will contact all nominees in the beginning of November, have a nominee election if needed, and organize the council soon thereafter.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.
