Day One: Five Proposals From UC-AFT Geffen Faculty
 

Your bargaining committee, along with UC-AFT President and UCLA Lecturer, Mia McIver, and UC-AFT Field Rep, Holly Craig-Wehrle, met today with Sibyll, Nancy, Carol Goldberg (chair of GA advisory committee) and three people from UCLA labor relations.
 

Huge shout out to Mia for helping put our ideas into contract language. Our committee presented proposals on five areas of our contract::
 

-UCRP Retirement credit

-Calendar

-Appointment Letters

-Workload

-Paid leave
 

They asked clarifying questions and we explained our proposals more fully. This portion of the bargaining session went very well.
 

UC Labor Relations Fails to Commit to Bargaining Dates

Unfortunately, it ended in calendaring frustration. Both our bargaining committee and Sibyll expressed a desire to have negotiations finished before school starts. That is still our aim. UCLA labor relations, however, dropped the ball on scheduling our next meeting.
 

In order to move bargaining on key articles forward more quickly, we plan to share some proposals electronically. We will keep you updated when UC and Geffen management have returned proposals of their own.
