Lecturer Contract Ratified--Takes Effect Feb 29, 2016

Dear colleagues,

UC-AFT is happy to announce that our membership ratified our tentative agreement. The vote was overwhelming in favor of accepting total salary increases of at least 11.2% over the next 30 months, improved protection for pre-continuing lecturers, and payment in lieu of retirement benefits to many lecturers who are denied participation in the university pension and even in Social Security. 

The support of union members through participation in the bargaining survey, rallies and the petition was key to achieving these gains. Thank you and congratulations on a new and better contract. 
The new contract is effective as of today, February 29, 2016, and it expires on January 31, 2020. You can read the new agreement in full below.
   
The best way to enjoy the gains of the contract is to know it and use it, and the best way to improve the contract in the future is to join and be active.
