UC-AFT Statewide Executive Board Election Results 2016

At the statewide Council meeting on April 16, local representatives to the Council elected the following individuals to the statewide Executive Board:

President- Bob Samuels, Lecturer, UCSB
Vice President for Legislation- Axel E. Borg, Librarian, UCD
Vice President for Organizing- Mia McIver, Lecturer, UCLA
Vice President for Grievances- Ben Harder, Lecturer, UCR
Secretary Treasurer- Miki Goral, Librarian, UCLA

All Executive Board offices have one year terms commencing on June 15.  Article VI of the UC-AFT Constitution describes the duties of the officers.

Current V.P. for Grievances, Sandy Baringer, and V.P. for Organizing, Chris Hables Gray, did not seek reelection. As V.P. for Grievances, Sandy was instrumental in developing a searchable archive for grievances, arbitrations, unfair labor practices, etc. This archive will improve UC-AFT's ability to enforce our contract and represent our members long into the future.  As V.P. for Organizing, Chris brought a new energy and creativity to our organizing efforts, particularly during Unit 18 contract negotiations.  He also worked to build connections between the lecturer and librarian bargaining units, and he initiated the UC-AFT Green Caucus.  We thank Sandy and Chris for their service on the Executive Board and to UC-AFT.
