Unit 18 Contract Ratified by 99% of Voters—Contract Education Workshops to Begin
The ratification vote for the new Unit 18 contract had record turn out and overwhelming support for ratification. With just under 1000 ballots submitted, 99% voted in favor of the new contract. The strength of our contract is ultimately determined by enforcement and the quality of representation we provide. We are scheduling contract education workshops and steward trainings on every campus. Dates will be announced soon. Please take these opportunities to learn about the new contract and all the ways you can support your colleagues.

Librarian Bargaining Survey—Bargaining Committee Meeting March 5
The Librarian bargaining survey will close on Friday March 4 at midnight. All union members should have received a link to the survey. Librarians who join the union before the close of the survey will be sent the link.  Librarian union membership is just below 80%. Our goal is to begin negotiations with 90% membership so that our proposals carry the full weight and support of the bargaining unit. If you are not yet a union member, please join now. The bargaining committee will meet on Saturday March 5 to discuss the survey results and prepare for negotiations. Also, please check the new bargaining blog for frequent updates.

Statewide Executive Board Elections—Nominations Period Closes March 15
The nominations period for UC-AFT's annual statewide officer elections will close at midnight on March 15. Per Article V of the UC-AFT constitution, all current nominees and their candidate statements are posted to the UC-AFT website. The election of statewide officers will be conducted at the statewide Council meeting in Oakland on April 16. Per Article V Section 5 of the UC-AFT constitution, each Local will follow its own constitution and bylaws to elect voting delegates to the Council meeting. If you have questions about your Local's process, please contact the field representative assigned to your campus.
