Our Coalitions

Fighting for a better UC demands that we forge strong coalitions with fellow workers. Together with our fellow campus unions, we work in solidarity to affect new campus-level policies, support one another’s campaigns, and pass legislation that strengthens our rights and protects us from UC’s exploitative behavior. Alongside our union siblings and regional labor federations, we work in solidarity to advance social justice in our local communities. And in partnership with professional organizations including AAUP, Higher Ed Labor United, and LAUC, we fight for greater recognition of our academic training and professionalism and in defense of public higher education.

UC-AFT is affiliated with the California Federation of Teachers and the American Federation of Teachers, both of whom provide our union with vital legal, financial, and political support.  Our members are also eligible for a number of benefits and scholarships through these affiliates.

University of California Labor Coalition

Our most important coalition partners are our fellow workers at the University of California, who are organized in a variety of unions including AFSCME 3299, UPTE (CWA 9119), California Nurses Association (CNA), CIR-SEIU, UAW 4811, Teamsters Local 2010.
