Berkeley/Bay Area March 4th Events

7 AM - 12 PM: student picket lines at the borders of campus (it is still unclear whether a union will be on strike)
12 PM - Rally at Bancroft and Telegraph followed by a march to the downtown Oakland for coalition rally

Oakland

12 PM - 5 PM: Rally in downtown Oakland at City Hall (convergence of all sectors of public education in the East Bay,  Berkeley City College, Berkeley High, Oakland Tech, and other schools.  (This is a long walk, so organizers expect many will take public transit to the Oakland rally.)

On March 4 we are calling on all teachers to participate in some or all of these events on this critical day of action. Summary of events: 

7:30 am Informational picketing in defense of public education and against cuts 

9:15 am Districtwide mock "Disaster Drill" (as in "California’s budget is a disaster!") 

(San Francisco, San Lorenzo, Dublin and other districts are holding mock drills.) 

12-4 pm Rally at Frank Ogawa Plaza 

San Fransisco

Rally at Civic Center @ 1:30 - San Francisco 

Rally @ 3:00pm 24th and Mission - K-12 march to civic center 

5 pm Rally at SF Civic Center to demand Full Funding for Public Education and Social Services! Progressive Taxation Now!
