CA Legislature Pushing Bill to Force UC, CSU and CCC to Grant Credit for Private Online Courses

California Senate Majority Leader, Darrell Steinberg, has drafted a bill that would require California colleges to grant credit for online courses taken outside of these institutions in the case that there is a waiting list for the in-person course.

Will CA bill be 'turning point' for online college course?  Alaska Dispatch w/ Bob Samuels

There is no mention of the possibility of faculty involvment in course selection, compentency testing, or other faculty controls in this process.  The bill in its current form essentially creates the basis to outsource the fifty most impacted undergraduate courses.  There is also no discussion of the fact that a huge surge in credit granted for these introductory courses will create massive bottlenecks in upper division courses.
