UAW 2865 – UC Graduates Solidarity Statement

To the Regents of the University of California, Janet Napolitano, President of the University of California and all UC campus chancellors,

On Monday February 24th, the UC administration filed Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges against the graduate student employees union, UAW 2865. We oppose these anti-union practices and the attempt to silence and retaliate against UC graduate students and their union.

We, the undersigned faculty organizations, stand in solidarity with UAW 2865 and with the demand of graduate students for living wages. We hereby demand:

1) That the University of California immediately drop the ULP charges against the UAW 2865,

2) That the University of California negotiate with UAW 2865 and the representatives of the graduate students on strike on several campuses for a COLA increase for all graduate students.
