Special lump sum payment for eligible lecturers

Share

Dear Lecturers,

I’m writing about a special payment our Union has negotiated for eligible lecturers. During the last contract, UC-AFT negotiated a provision that provides a special lump sum payment to many people who don’t get to participate in the University of California Retirement Plan.  On July 1, UC should have made those lump sum payments to lecturers who:

1) were not in the UCRP during AY 2015-16;
2) had taught 2 full years (4 semesters) by June 30 2015;
3) had an annual appointment percentage of at least 25% during AY 2015-16; and
4) taught any amount during AY 2016-17.

If you meet those four criteria, then you should have received a check equal to 5% of your AY 2015-16 base earnings (ie not including Summer Session etc.).  Click here to review this pamphlet to read more about this benefit.

 If you meet these criteria, could you do me a favor and respond to this email, telling me whether you received a check?

Best,

Tarone Bittner
