Teaching Faculty Contract Expiration Anniversary Rally & Press Conference

Share

On February 1, UC-AFT Teaching Faculty marked the one-year anniversary of the expiration of our contract with a virtual rally and press conference. 190 members and allies tuned in to our zoom room and dozens more watched on Facebook Live.  Our campaign to secure job stability for Teaching Faculty at UC is strengthening and intensifying. We're building a network of members who are contacting colleagues to invite participation in our campaign. Dedicated allies from the Senate Faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, Community Colleges and CSU's, and our UC union coalition are showing up to bargaining sessions and virtual actions to lend support.

On January 31, members on every campus showed up in-person to write postcards to President Drake with messages about why rehire rights are the hear of our campaign and why UC must provide meaningful job stability now.

At the bargaining table, UC's team is finally engaging in substantive conversation about our job stability demands.  Management is trying to find a way to avoid rehire rights at UC. We will not let them. The California Community Colleges and the CSU's have proven that rehire rights for non-tenure track faculty can and do work. They provide stability for teachers and continuity and quality for students.

If you came to bargaining in January, to our postcard action on Jan 31, or to our virtual Rally on February 1, thank you!  Your participation and commitment to our campaign is what will lead us to the contract we and our students deserve.

Please mark your calendar with these tentative bargaining dates in February:
Friday Feb 12 2 - 3 PM  (Time shortened from 2-5PM)
Friday Feb 26 2 - 5 PM
RSVP here to get the bargaining link.
