UC-AFT Receives Organizing Award At CFT Convention
The California Federation of Teachers recognized UC-AFT's outstanding membership outreach and recruitment work in 2014 with a coveted CFT Organizing Award.  UC-AFT had the third highest membership growth of all CFT locals in 2014! In 2015, we have welcomed record numbers of new members into our union as we approach our goal of surpassing 50% membership statewide.

Lecturer Bargaining Update #2 March 25-26 Oakland
UC and UC-AFT negotiators met March 25-26 to discuss Article 3-Academic Responsibility, Article 4-Non-Discrimination and Article 7a-NSF Appointments.  UC-AFT Chief Negotiator, Ben Harder, has posted an update from the session to the lecturer bargaining pageon the UC-AFT website.  For more from Ben on bargaining, check out this recent interview in CFT’s publication, Cal Teacher.

Petition: Protect Health Care Options--UC Care Not an Acceptable Replacement for Health Net
The Council of UC Faculty Associations (CUCFA) is circulating a petition that raises serious concerns about UC’s plan to eliminate Health Net as an HMO option and replace it with UC Care.  This plan would dramatically reduce medical choices, it would create significant access problems for communities without a UC Medical Center, and it raises questions about employee satisfaction with the current UC Care plans.  Please take a moment to read and sign the petition.

UC-AFT Statewide Executive Board Elections
Statewide officer elections will be conducted at the Council meeting in Oakland on April 19, 2015.  Per Article V of the UC-AFTconstitution, candidate statements have been posted to the UC-AFT website.  Per Article V., Section 5, each Local will follow its own constitution and bylaws to elect voting delegates to attend the Council meeting.  If you have questions about your Local's process, please contact the field representative assigned to your campus.
