Non-Senate Faculty (NSF) Professional Development Fund (PDF) council.

This is the NSF PDF council's annual call for nominations to membership on the council. Please consider helping other lecturers by serving on the council! The volunteer hours required consist of two or three meetings while helping manage UC’s only granting prgram for lecturers.

Report on "Increasing Lecturer Power in Research"

In 2016-2017, the members of UCSC Local 2199 identified a need to investigate the research activities of lecturers in an effort to highlight these endeavors and expand access to funding opportunities through the UC system. Please see the attached report for more information. 

Writing UC: Uniting Faculty Across Best Practices Report

In July 2016, UC-AFT  hosted a conference, Writing UC - Uniting Faculty Across Best Practices, to determine best practices and promote cross-campus networking about writing program pedagogy, labor, and administration.

Annual call for grant applications for funding from the Non-Senate Faculty Professional Development Fund

In accordance with our contract between the UC and the UC-AFT, funding is available to support professional development activities that contribute to pedagogical expertise in the subjects you teach at UCSC. Any Unit 18 Member who will be teaching at least one course during this academic year (2016-17) and the next academic year (2017-18) is eligible to apply. These funds may be used for professional meetings, conferences, workshops, to purchase software, special materials, and more.  Some sample funded activities from 2015-16 include
